Commander Steel
|
Character(s): Commander Steel I can't really tell you much about this particular character... None of my usual reference materials contain any mention of Commander Steel, a Golden Age hero whose exploits were published in Canada. The following information from comic historian Ron Goulart was provided by Mikel Midnight: "Commander Steele was typically the leading character in Grand Slam Comics which started in 1941. Ed Furness was the chief artist at Anglo-American and American writers such as Rod Reed and Otto Binder contributed some scripts. "Commander Steele derived his abilities from the Elixer of Power that flowed in his veins. During the war he fought chiefly against Nazi's, and in the postwar period he roamed the world as an agent of Internation Police Service. For a few years in the mid-1940's his magazine was sold on American newsstands." Information for this column was provided by Mikel Midnight of Mikel's Golden Age Comics Page. |
